Green Team News
GREAT NEWS!!!
In our effort to become a Green School we are now recycling clothes, shoes, and small household items through Second Chance Textile. We have a large blue collection bin located in the student drop off area. It is conveniently located so that our community members, parents and staff are able to drive up and place the items in the drop door. These reusable items are picked up every other day and used to help our local charities like Rancho Damacitas and Project School Bell. Other reusable clothes, shoes, linens and household items are purchased by distant countries like Africa, South America, Europe and Asia. This provides new jobs, stimulates struggling economies and household items for families in poverty. The overly stained, torn or just not wearable clothing is separated and sent to recycling facilities where they are then broken down and recycled into a variety of different recycled products from wiping and polishing rags to carpet padding and mattress fibers. Even zippers and buttons get a second chance and are recycled. In addition, we will receive a small donation from the company periodically during the year. We have already received a check for our school to help fund our recycling efforts. As you can see this is a great program for our school!!!
Thank you for helping CLMS help our School, Community and Environment.
